Citizens Advice Liverpool launch new app and Debt Advice Helpline
Citizens Advice Liverpool (CAL) has launched a mobile app which they have developed to act as a single point of access for advice in Liverpool so that anyone can find the advice they need at any time. Users click on the area of advice they need to bring up a list of agencies organised by distance (Linked to GPS) and whether the agency is open. Full contact details and directions are available. If no agencies are open at that time, there is the option to send a message to an agency or link to immediate online advice. Links to webchat advice are also available.
This ensures that people are receiving the most appropriate help conveniently and are not spending time travelling to closed agencies or those who are unable to assist them with their particular issues. The app is free to download on Apple and Android Smartphones. The development of the app was funded by a Big Lottery grant. At the launch event on 29 November, we were also introduced to the new Debt Advice Service.
Their new dedicated debt telephone advice line covers calls from the Liverpool City Region on behalf of the Greater Merseyside Money Advice Project (GMMAP). Lines are open from 8 am to 8 pm Monday to Thursday, and 8 am to 4 pm on Fridays. Calls are answered by trained money advice specialists. The number is 0300 330 1196. You can also send a WhatsApp or SMS message to 07468533492 with your name and number and you will be called back within 2 days.
It's particularly useful for those who cannot an advice agency during office hours. As money gets tight over the Christmas period bear this service in mind if you or someone you know is struggling.
