Liverpool CCG Catheter and Stoma Prescription Service Focus Group
Liverpool CCG are holding a focus group to discuss changes to the way patients requiring catheter and stoma products obtain their prescriptions.
The focus group will take place on: Tuesday 11th July, 10.30am – 12.00pm, at The Department, Lewis's Building, 2 Renshaw Street, Liverpool, L1 2SA.
They have provided the following details:
"For most patients, products such as stoma bags, catheters and adhesives are provided by specialist services in hospital. Once discharged, patients then obtain repeat prescriptions for these items from their GP Practice. However, GP's are not always best placed to prescribe catheter and stoma care, as this requires specialist knowledge to ensure that products prescribed are meeting patients' needs.
Therefore we are proposing to change how repeat prescribing of stoma products are managed. Rather than the prescription being issued by the GP Practice, we are piloting changes which would see specialist nurse prescribers managing prescriptions for these patients. Patients will still be free to choose which Community Pharmacy or Dispensing Appliance Contractor (DAC) dispenses and delivers their products and their GP will be advised of any changes in your products, ensuring that everyone involved in your care is kept in the loop.
To ensure the pilot is set up in the right way to improve care for patients we would like to speak with patients who currently use these services to understand their experiences and ensure we are focusing on the right areas to improve their care.
If you, a family member, or friend, have used or are using catheter or stoma products we would be delighted if you could attend the session. To book your place please email firstname.lastname@example.org or call Sarb Heer on 0151 247 6406
Feel free to share this open invitation with anybody you think might be interested"
