Tell us a bit about you/your organisation
We are a not for profit organisation supporting people and families in the community. We help support people and families to keep their connections and maintain their lifestyles as much as possible. Our aims is to be the leading provider of support in the North West for people affected by dementia including family and friends, helping to maintain happy and active lives by working with passionate, caring and valued staff.
What sort of work do you/your organisation normally do in the community?
We run social events twice a month using the power of music to keep people connected. These events involve singing, dancing and a buffet in a party atmosphere at Mossley Hill Athletics Club.
We organise trips to various places Wales, Blackpool, barge trips and lots more.
We work with RDA Beechley Stables providing equine therapy while enjoying afternoon tea.
We provide 1 – 1 support for people living with dementia in their own homes and care homes encouraging people to carry on doing the things they enjoy while providing respite for family members, carers and friends. We have a holistic approach supporting everybody involved.
How are you staying connected with the community during lockdown?
Alan, Jeanette and Lynsey who are part of the Smile TLC are working hard to keep everybody connected during these challenging times. The team are visiting people daily, having a friendly chat and making sure that people have essential items including food donated by Fareshare. We have also teamed up with Brian at Evolution records to continue using the power of music to help people and families. Various artists have recorded songs which we have been publishing on our social media platforms. We have a very special song coming soon which has been created by our Smile TLC friends too!
