About this event

Join us at The Brink in Liverpool city centre for an event to learn more about our Homeless Services project and have the opportunity to share your views and experiences.

There will be a performance by the fab 'Choir With No Name' and food will be provided.

About the project

Homelessness is not just about someone sleeping outside in a doorway; it happens to many people in many different situations. People could be staying in temporary housing like a hostel, a B&B, a hotel, living in an overcrowded household, or ‘sofa surfing’ (staying temporarily with friends or relatives).

The number of homeless people has been growing; in November 2018 Shelter estimated that there were at least 320,000 people homeless in Britain, and in March 2019 government figures showed that nearly 85,000 households were in some sort of temporary accommodation like B&Bs and hostels in England at that time, including just over 126,000 children.

Liverpool has also seen a rise in people experiencing homelessness. There are many services and organisations trying to help, and we wanted to know:

  • What services and support exist in Liverpool?
  • What do the people using the services think about them?
  • What can some of the service providers and commissioners tell us?

We especially want to hear from the people using the services, as they know more than most where things work well, or where they’d like to see change.

This project will continue until the end of January 2020. We will publish a report with findings and recommendations based on what people have told us.
